WHAT WE DO
Factory:
Since its inception in 1955, A. Fakhry & Co.'s industrial activities have always been centered at its main factory unit in Qutur, located at the heart of the Nile delta, in the province of Gharbeya.
It is today the oldest family owned industrial facility in the field of aromatics in Egypt which is not to say that over its half century existence it was not continuously upgraded.
Over the past 10 years, A. Fakhry & Co.’s R&D was able to develop a new extraction technique providing a fully certified organic alternative to petroleum based extraction processes where no ersatz existed for such florals as Jasmine, Tuberose, Carnation, Cassie, etc… The technique (which is not based on supercritical extraction either) has been successfully applied as well to Rose centifolia and damascena and Bitter Orange Blossom to enrich the palette of an ever increasing demand for certified organic aromatic products in the F&F industry.
It presently boasts the largest available distillation units in the country with a capacity of 7’000 liters each (under further extension as we speak), together with a 150’000 liters capacity of solvent extraction subdivided over 7 fully independent units allowing the process of the same diversity of botanicals simultaneously. As an example, the extraction facilities were producing in the mid-1970’s (over the course of a half-year season) 6 tons of Jasmine Concrete when the demand, from the world F&F industry then, topped at some 11 tons of the said material from Egypt. Today, although these figures have gone down for reasons independent of our will, A. Fakhry & Co. still produces >1/3 of Egypt’s Jasmine Concrete production and accounts overall for nearly 25% of the country’s aromatic raw material turnover.
A new activity with vegetal oils (fixed oils) is presently being grafted to our main core business of aromatic raw materials with the implementation of German-built screw expellers to obtain cold pressed oils from a wide variety of rare botanicals (many of which are of the “aromatic” group.)
A minor activity regarding specialty dried raw materials (blossoms, rinds, some herbs & spices, etc…) completes the services A. Fakhry & Co. is able to provide its international clientèle according to the concept: from-planted-seed-to-delivered-product.
